Rev. Franklin Graham Explained Why Trump Didn’t Swear on the Bible at His Inauguration

Rev. Franklin Graham has offered important insights regarding the absence of a Bible during President Trump’s inauguration ceremony on Monday. This event has generated considerable discussion among Christians on social media. The pastor emphasized that this omission held no spiritual implications, attributing it instead to a matter of timing during the ceremony.

Graham explained, “The swearing-in was scheduled for 12, and I believe it was around 12:01 when it occurred, which led to a rushed situation without sufficient time.” During the ceremony, First Lady Melania Trump was observed bringing the Bible to her husband, yet Trump notably did not place his hand on it while taking the oath. Graham, who delivered a heartfelt prayer at the event, further elaborated on the circumstances.

He stated, “Justice Kavanaugh began administering the oath before Melania even reached the stage with the Bibles, which created an awkward moment, but it was not intentional, I assure you.” The pastor affirmed that President Trump “cannot fulfill his duties without God” and expressed confidence that he would “be attentive to the concerns of Christians” during his presidency.

“Biden has not been supportive of people of faith,” Graham remarked. “In contrast, Trump has always been welcoming and will heed the voices of Christians.” He noted that President Trump has “exceptional Christians in his cabinet, individuals who are devoted to God,” and that his own role is “to pray and to motivate others to pray for [Trump].” Graham added, “If he seeks my counsel, I will provide it, but I urge everyone to pray for him, as he cannot succeed without divine guidance.”

He further asserted, “America will not regain its greatness if we abandon God.” The Rev. concluded by urging everyone to support the President through prayer, emphasizing the importance of uplifting him daily. In his fervent prayer, he proclaimed that God had preserved Trump’s life and “empowered him with strength and vigor.”

Trump reiterated this sentiment when he stated that he had been “saved by God to make America great again.” During the prayer at his inauguration, Franklin Graham remarked, “Mr. President, over the past four years, I am certain there were moments when you felt it was quite bleak.” He continued, “But observe what God has accomplished. We offer our praise and glory to Him,” he prayed.

He further expressed, “Our Father, today, as President Donald J. Trump assumes the office once more, we gather to express our gratitude, O Lord our God. When Donald Trump’s adversaries believed he was defeated, it was You and You alone who preserved his life and restored him with strength and power through Your mighty hand.” As he concluded his prayer during the indoor ceremony, he made a fervent appeal to God.

“We pray for President Trump, that You will watch over him, protect him, guide him, and grant him wisdom from Your throne on high,” he stated. “We ask that You bless him and bless our nation through him.” He also expressed gratitude for Vice President JD Vance, requesting that he support President Trump and “uphold his arms as Aaron upheld the arms of Moses during battle.”
