During a broadcast of “Hannity” on Monday, November 11, Tom Homan, who has been appointed as the “border czar” by President-elect Donald Trump, addressed assertions made on “The View” regarding the potential deportation of American citizens under the forthcoming Trump Administration’s mass deportation strategy. Homan emphasized that the administration’s primary objective will be to secure the southern border, while asserting that the co-hosts of ABC’s “The View,” who made the allegations about the deportation of U.S. citizens earlier that day, are misinformed.
Ana Navarro, a co-host on “The View,” remarked, “You realize, I mean, it’s chilling what he just said. You realize when he says, ‘Yes, families can be deported together,’ what he is saying is, that U.S. Citizens can be deported. What he is saying is, if the parent is undocumented and they have U.S. Citizen children or U.S. Citizen spouses, and you don’t want to separate them, then let’s deport the U.S. Citizens.”
In response to a question from Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity regarding whether the Trump Administration would indeed deport U.S. citizens as part of its deportation plan, Homan firmly stated, “No, exactly not. Look, ‘The View’ is such an island of misfit toys. They don’t know what the hell they are talking about.”
Homan further elaborated to Hannity that the administration’s primary focus will be on addressing threats to public safety and national security, asserting, “President Trump has made it clear we will prioritize public safety threats and national security threats first. And that’s what the focus should be.” He also highlighted the significant issue posed by criminal illegal immigrants, stating, “There are over 1.5 million convicted criminal aliens in this country with final orders of removal that we’re going to be looking for. There are thousands of gang members, illegal alien gang members we’ll be looking for.”
However, Homan cautioned that other illegal immigrants should not feel secure, as they too may face scrutiny.
Homan remarked on the so-called “sanctuary states” that have declared their intention to obstruct deportations, stating, “I observed today that numerous governors from these sanctuary states are indicating they will intervene. They should step aside. It is imperative that they either assist us or remove themselves from the equation, as ICE will fulfill its responsibilities. We intend to remove the restrictions imposed on ICE by the Biden Administration and allow them to operate effectively, as they are trained to do.”
In his remarks directed at “The View,” Homan continued, “Let me address this to ‘The View’ and President Biden. This administration made a commitment to focus on criminal aliens, which was stated as their priority by Secretary Mayorkas. However, I reviewed the statistics today, and the removal of criminal aliens has decreased by 74% compared to the Trump administration. We currently have a higher number of criminals than ever before. There are ample targets available, and the personnel of this new administration will actively seek them out, including in sanctuary cities. If these cities refuse to cooperate, they should step aside. I am prepared to increase the workforce in those sanctuary cities. We will carry out our duties regardless of the political landscape, so they should be prepared for our actions, as we are coming.”
