Bowers, a tight end for the Raiders, scored a 23-yard touchdown in the third quarter of the game against the Miami Dolphins on November 17. Following his touchdown, he performed a dance reminiscent of Trump’s signature move, which involves raising fists vertically towards the head while keeping elbows close to the waist. This dance has gained significant traction on social media platforms, particularly TikTok, since Trump’s electoral victory on November 5.
Initially, CBS broadcasted Bowers’ celebratory dance during the game, and the NFL even featured it in their posts, leading to a viral moment that resonated with conservative viewers while drawing criticism from some on the left. However, CBS later chose to exclude the dance from its highlight reel, prompting outrage among viewers online.
One commenter expressed their frustration by stating, “@CBSNews @NFLonCBS is complete trash!” Another user, Aesthetica, questioned, “Why did you edit out the Trump dance?” Additional comments echoed similar sentiments, with one user remarking, “Cutting out the Trump dance celebration? Wow. This is why CBS is a joke.” Another individual urged a boycott of CBS and other major networks, declaring, “Everybody needs to boycott CBS, ABC, CNN, MSN. I have!”
Many others joined the chorus of discontent, with one user labeling the network a “failed institution” and another sarcastically noting, “Lol, did you really think nobody would notice? This network needs its broadcast license reviewed.”
A different commenter expressed, “CBS. This is the reason for his victory. You contribute to the issue. Reassess your ethical standards.” In response, another individual remarked that viewers should cease consuming misleading media, stating, “Stop watching that news filled with falsehoods and biased perspectives from individuals lacking expertise.”
Trump has initiated legal action against CBS regarding its edited interview with Vice President Kamala Harris conducted prior to the election. The edited version portrayed her in a significantly more favorable light than her original, meandering response. The legal representatives for the Republican presidential candidate assert that millions of viewers were “misled” by the altered remarks from Harris, which they claim distorted public perception of the vice president. “Millions of Americans, including those in Texas and this District, were confused and misled by the two altered versions of the interview,” stated Trump’s legal team.
